Blue cloth stamped in gilt on front board and spine; lacking a jacket as issued (reportedly only the 1973 second printing had a jacket). 215pp., with 12 leaves of b&w plates at center. Signed and inscribed by Brooks on the half-title: "For Paul, Sincerely Gwendolyn Brooks." Mild rubbing to front board gilt; one photo plate dog-eared to accommodate overcut printing error; slight foxing to tops of plates. Very good or better. A collection of autobiographical writings by the celebrated American poet Gwendolyn Brooks (1917-2000), a vital contributor to the Blacks Art Movement. Contents include the titular memoir, an account of a 1971 trip to Africa, three interviews, and a one-page biography of her deceased dog Fluffy. With prefaces by Don L. Lee and George Kent.

All books ship free with tracking to domestic addresses via USPS Media Mail. In most cases, delivery takes place within a three to ten day window, although the vicissitudes of USPS may apply. Unless otherwise requested, expedited domestic purchases ship via USPS Priority Mail; overseas orders via USPS First Class International. Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts. Pamphlets and other flat materials items are ocassionally shipped in bubble-mailers with internal cardboard supports. All books with dust jackets are fitted with brand new archival protectors prior to shipping.
