New York: the commission, 1887. Hardcover. Pagination to p.63, following which profuse half- and full-page photographs reproduced in steely-blue gravure; numerous folded stats; profuse folded maps (many with multiple spot-color guidelines); many many diagrams (showing details such as "the Timbering of Shaft 13," and "Blow-Off and Waste Weir at South Yonkers"). A massive folio hardbound in 14x11 inch bevelled boards covered with pebbled cloth decorated in blind and titled gilt, lettering enclosed in ingenious tunnel cross-section, also bright gilt. A generally handleable copy with startlingly few mis-folds of the plethora of accordion plates (just a corner or two), and we saw no tears. FYI, on same note, no sign of breaker pilfering. As to condition of casebinding, front hinge is weak, rear hinge touchy, all extremities frayed.
