There is one OCLC record (with no actual library holdings) for the 1955 "great international edition" published under the title Reno's Scientific Method of Blueprint Curly Cutting, though the present edition is presumably earlier. . Contemporary red three-hole folder titled in silver with "Reno's Scientific Method of Curly Cutting. 9 x 11 in. . The text seems to be consecutive, in spite of the inconsistent pagination. We have not been able to locate another copy for comparison. It is possible that a leaf is lacking, or it could simply be irregular numbering, which occasionally occurs, especially in amateur productions like this. In any event, this is a rare item. Illustrated on twenty-one pages with diagrams demonstrating the "mathematical and scientific method" of cutting curly hair based on curl patterns, desired length, etc. Pages 29-38 are a quiz and answer key, and pages 39-41 are blank besides headings ("Notes"). Some rubbing to edges and some slight toning to pages. Very good. The present item appears to be a manual for students of Reno's University of Beauty in Long Beach, California, which trained stylists "in the execution of this famous hair-shaping method." The method utilized abbreviations (N, V, V+, L, H) and a numbering system to, essentially, graph a woman's hairstyle and communicate the desired cut in a code (e.g., "3 - V+ - 8," "53 - L - 9") that could be exactly followed by hairstylists
