Manchester: Printed for the Author 1823. The Round Towers of Ireland Printed for the Author, Manchester, 1824. The first work with double-page folding map ( & one leaf partly) detached, 4to, 92-pages; the half-title retained. The second work with lithographic frontispiece and two lithographic plates; 42-pages.The two works bound together 4to (9 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches), contemporary binder's cloth, binding rubbed. The Author's own copies with his engraved armorial bookplate on front pastedown. Both works are very rare.The Manchester liberal politician and manufacturer Robert Hyde Greg [1795-1875) was sent on a grand tour of Europe before joining his familys prosperous textile business. His dissertation on Troy is dedicated to Prince Louis William of Hesse Hombourg, whom the author accompanied on his travels in Greece and Asia Minor.
