New York: The Protestant Episcopal Tract Society, 1859. First edition. Wraps. Very Good +. 4 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. 27 pages. Pages bright and clean and free from marking, soiling and staining. One page with closed marginal tear not affecting text. Bound in original cream colored wraps. Wraps very slightly soiled and with a slight vertical crease. Author and date in neat contemporary ink to front cover. A very good copy of this scarce early address on the state of the pre-Civil War Episcopal Church by the (then provisional) Bishop of New York and founder of the Church of St. John the Divine. One of his earliest works as a (provisional) bishop.
