Reviews
On Jun 21 2007, RamaRao said:
This book contains very basic and outdated descriptions of the universe which is no longer tenable. The author expresses his doubt in the summary page (page 126) that theoretical and experimental development in cosmology may change the ideas expressed in this book about the universe.
Chapters 2-4 give a brief introduction to general relativity in layman terms, and other chapters describe black holes, galaxies, quasars, and the dynamics of the universe. The chapters on quasars and dynamics of universe are outdated in light of new discoveries in cosmology and astrophysics. In spite of these deficiencies the book is readable and relevant ideas of relativity and cosmology are well presented. I recommend reading chapters 1 to 5.
