About This Item

New York: William Rudge, 1922. First printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/good. One of 950 copies, designed by Bruce Rogers. Cloth backed boards, a nearly fine copy with top edges of pages uncut and unopened, in very good original plain dust jacket with light wear (and unfortunately, penned on spine by some previous owner, 'Bruce Rogers item'). Scarce in such condition, in even scarcer jacket. John W. Beatty was the Carnegie Museum's first director in Pittsburgh, friendly with Childe Hassam and others, and one of the motivating forces behind the foundation of the Carnegie International exhibitions.
