[16], 360., [60], 328pp. The first edition of a collection of texts of classical writers from Roman times on the subject of agriculture, land measurement, garden planning, agricultural economics, construction of bridges, canals, etc. A richly illustrated work, presented charts, measuring devices, plans. Frontispiece, diagrams, initials, engraved plates (2 folding), numerous woodcut and engraved illustrations throughout the text. Full parchment binding, hand titled spine, all edges red. Bookplate, short ink inscriptions and residue after stamp on front paste-down. Corners bumped, minor soiling boards, partly restored frontispiece and title page (text intact). Strong, clean and nice copy. .

Early morocco, gilt-stamped lettering and ornament in spine compartments (5 raised bands); 8vo (140x190mm); pp. [20] (frontis., title-p., dedication, preface, errata), 360, [60] (index), 328; woodcut and engraved illustrations throughout, plus 3 folding plates. Boards scuffed; joints cracked (but holding just fine); spine tips and corners chipped. Some browning here and there; a little worming here and there, affecting some sidenotes but leaving text largely unscathed); but overall internally nice and clean.
