About This Item

New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2003. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Later printing. Signed by Susan Sontag on the half-title. A brilliant consideration of the visual representation of violence in our culture - its ubiquity, meanings, and effects. Octavo. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.

Synopsis

Regarding the Pain of Others was Susan Sontag's last published book before her death in 2004. It is, in a way, a follow-up to On Photography despite the fact that the two books have radically different opinions about photography. This long essay is especially interested in war photography.
