About This Item

London: George Allen & Unwin, 1915. First British Edition. First British edition. (States "First published in 1915" on copyright page; follows the American edition of Huebsch in English.) x, 299, [3, ads] pp. Bound in publisher's brown cloth with black lettering. Very Good with darkened spine, cloth dust-soiled and a little stained, rubbed along edges, former owner's name on front free endpaper.

A major work of 20th century revolutionary political philosophy by syndicalist Georges Sorel, originally published in his native tongue French in 1908. Despite being a Leftist work, many scholars have called it an important progenitor of fascist ideology. Its scope is unusually broad, including mythology and sociology.
