About This Item

New York: The American Historical Society, Inc, 1936. Full leather. Near Fine. Very impresive 1936 Reed (or Reid) family genealogy, privately printed for Mary Dean Reed and sumptuously bound in a highly-decorative, full morocco. A remarkably clean, Near Fine folio, with raised bands and finely-tooled devices and lettering at the compartments. Additional gilt coat-of-arms (family crests) to the panels and large sprigs of roses adorning the full-morocco pastedowns. All edges gilt, all original tissue-guards (protecting the brightly-colored "coat of-arms" plates) intact. Also includes several interesting pieces of Reed family ephemera laid-in. (From the library of Joseph Verner Reed [1937-2016], prominent Greenwich, CT scion and former Ambassador to Morocco and Under Secretary-General of the United Nations).
