Quarto (25.5 cm), pp. [8], 1-700, [4]. One of 200 privately printed copies (by Thomson-Shore). Black boards with red and white debossed characters and lettering on front cover and spine. No jacket as issued. Spine slightly cocked, light stain on lower board. This novel about the British in pre-revolutionary China is one of five novels privately printed by the author due to his frustration with the publishing world.
