New York & London: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1889 [1874]. Hardcover, blue cloth boards, gilt colophon. Good. 3rd Edition of the remembrances of his time as a young Confederate soldier during the American Civil War. 260 pages, moderate wear to spine (split at top), back cover soil, front hinge cracked. Eggleston, 1839-1911, served in the 1st Virginia Cavalry; his memoir was originally published serially in The Atlantic Monthly. He was the author of several other books, and his brother Edward was also a writer. He coined the term 'champagne socialist' in his 1906 book Blind Alleys.
