Straight, tight and clean with no markings, light spine-end and corner bumps, spotting to spine. Copeman, a Royal Navy mutineer and English volunteer in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War commanding the British Battalion, describes in detail his growing disaffection with the Communist Party beginning with his service in Spain and culminating with his exit from the party during a visit to Moscow in 1938, then reflects upon his later life in England as a family man and Parliamentary candidate. Illustrated with a glossy frontisportrait photograph of the author and 8 other black-&-white plates, 3 maps, and 2 diagrammed battle plans.

Spine has minor tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped dust jacket with minor rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Moderate tanning and scuffing overall.
