About This Item

Washington D.C.: Regnery Publishing Co., 2008. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾. Americans don't just want changer, they want real change -but most have no idea where it will come from. Democrats can't provide it and Republicans won't. But former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich does. He explains what is wrong with our country and how to solve our problems in his blockbuster new book, Real Change: From the World That Fails to the World That Works. In this no-holds-barred assessment of American politics, Gingrich approaches our nation's problems with a private-sector mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit, offering commonsense solutions for the issues of today and the challenges of tomorrow. He lambastes both parties for creating a "government of the bureaucrats, by the consultants, and for the special interests" and busts the myth that voters are entrenched in a "red state" vs. "blue state" mentality. Gingrich exposes the truth: Americans are united on almost every important issue. It's the politicians who drag us into partisan bickering and away from real change. Signed on a publisher's bookplate mounted on the half-title page..

This man is an ideas factory, and this book is no different. I often say he's the smartest man in either party, and if you can't agree with me on that, I hope you can at least agree that he's the most original thinker in either party. This book covers everything: healthcare, immigration, prison system, science and space, etc. And it's not some predicatble anti-government screed - it's a very throughful set of ideas that VERY few of our elected officials would a) ever come up with on their own and b) have the guts to try and enact them.He wrote this in early 2008 when he was considering a run for the White House. I expect we'll see another toward the end of 2011. I hope he finally makes a go this time. If only to dramatically shift the debates in the both the GOP and presidential contests. I think very few would stand a chance against him in a debate.
