Illustrated endpapers, showing map of gains and losses of territory during World War II. The text is illustrated with copious black and white photographs, battle plans and maps. 1/4 green vinyl spine with gilt decoration and 3/4 photographic board of men fighting in tropical island setting, with gilt coloured titles embossed on the front panel and gilt coloured titles on the spine. Photographic dustwrapper, showing soldiers 'going over the top' with a red wash overlay and black insert with white coloured titles on the front panel and spine. Rubbing of the book corners and minor rubbing of the back strip corners. Very light age toning of the text block edges and even lighter age toning of the pages. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and to the back strip edges. Creasing of the top dustwrapper edge with rubbing of the panels.
