About This Item

1946. New York, Argus Books, 1946. Small folio. In the original printed red and white wrapper. Wrappers with some soiling of a 5 x 2 cm repair to front wrapper. Internally fine and clean. (10), 116 pp. The rare American abridged (90 pages of notes removed) edition of this seminal and highly controversial work on the British/Palestine issue. Despite the fact that this edition was issued in a more popular rendition, shortened and with a more colorful and inviting cover, intended for the American audience, it is rarely offered for sale. The Rape of Palestine presents a devastating criticism of the British politics in Israel. The British Foreign Office declared the book "violent and offensive" and monitored Ziff closely thereafter. Ziff was one of the most prominent American supporters of Revisionist Zionism and took active part in politics and was persuaded by Revisionist Zionist leader Ze'ev Jabotinsky to accept the presidency of the Zionist-Revisionists of America organization.
