About This Item
Berlin: R. Wagner, c. 1871. Very Good. Notes: A charming view of Rangoon, Myanmar, during the mid 19th century. Mounted on publisher's board. Eduard Hildebrandt (1817 – 1868) was a German painter. He served as apprentice to his father, a house-painter at Danzig. He was not twenty when he moved to Berlin, where he was taken in hand by Wilhelm Krause, a painter of sea pieces. He is most well known for his sketches, many of them represented by chromolithography. Fantasies in red, yellow and opal, sunset, sunrise and moonshine, distances of hundreds of miles like those of the Andes and the Himalaya, narrow streets in the bazaars of Cairo or Suez, panoramas as seen from mast-heads, wide cities like Bombay or Pekin, narrow strips of desert with measure-less expanses of skyfall alike display his quality of bravura. , Image Size : 182x275 (mm), 7.17x10.83 (Inches), Platemark Size : , Paper Size : 450x551 (mm), 17.72x21.69 (Inches), Coloring: Printed in Color, Medium: Chromolithograph, Categories: Views Asia South East;
