Reviews

On Mar 5 2021, a reader said:
I recommend this book to anyone who loves the movies or the stars of the Hollywood Era when the studios were in control. My favorite actor is Randolph Scott, closely followed by John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Joel McCrea and Gene Autry. As you can probably guess I love old westerns, and these men made some of the best. These book focuses in on Scott and gives you a sense of what it was like to make movies during the hey-day of westerns. Pictures, pictures and more pictures with a filmography of Scott's films is enough for me. Yes, knowing where he was from and the date of his birth are important, as is some of his struggles and early living in Hollywood. The whispers and innuendo that accompanied his relationship with Cary Grant is widely known, or was, in the Hollywood community, and the less said about that the better. Yes, it is obivious that Jefferson Crow adored Randolph Scott, as do many of us who were born as baby-boomers; but that does not detract from this book,it only adds to it. Do we need a critical review of his body of work? Do we need an indepth telling of his social life and his business acumen which made him one of the wealthiest men in California after he left movie making? It is enough to know that Randolph Scott was the Gentleman From Virginia.
