The first UK edition stated of this work by the creator of Captain Hornblower, C.S. Forester.With this novel set in modern setting, the author introduces us to a modern hero, the young Randall. The story follows him through his experience as a fighting man, a lover, and a returned soldier. A very exciting work of fiction. C. S. Forester was born in Cairo in 1899, lived in the UK and died in California, USA in 1966 (aged 66). He was an English novelist known for his writings on naval warfare.With unclipped dustwrapper. In the publisher's original black cloth binding, with titles stamped in silver to spine. Externally excellent with minor shelfwear and slight bumping ot head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is unclipped and very smart, with slight shelfwear. Internally, firly bound. Minor faint scattered spotting ot edges, not affecting pages which remain bright and clean. Near Fine
