London: John Ollivie, 1846. viii,259pp. Modern three quarter calf and marbled boards, leather label, raised bands. Gilt spine. Occasional light foxing, a bit tanned. Howes and Clark call for a frontispiece, but no copy has been seen with one. Overall very good. James visited American and travelled through New York, New England, the Great Lakes region, eastern Canada, and down the Ohio River. He also includes cursory descriptions of the southern and midwestern states and Vancouver and the Queen Charlotte Islands, and a chapter on Oregon.
