Heavy wear and damping to the binding. The paper on the spine is fading and chipping at the ends along with some other tears. Binding a bit cocked. A partly printed / handwritten slip is laid in loosely noting that this copy was presented to the owner by the children of Raleigh Rutherford Haynes. Map endpapers of Rutherford County, North Carolina. There is a color family crest at the front, which page is detached from the binding. The text is illustrated with black and white photos. The text is generally clean. Not a pretty copy. A reading or reference copy only.
