Fine hardback in nr. fine dw., with vg. publisher’s slipcase. Although not inscribed, from the library of ornithologist, artist, author and editor Robert Gillmor MBE (purchased by us May 2023). Daily telegraph obituary of the author, loosely inserted, together with a newspaper article on the discovery, in the Philipines, of a new species of flightless bird, the Calayan Rail dated August 2004 in Gillmor’s hand. With forty-one paintings by J. Fenwick Lansdowne and a chapter on Fossil Species by Storrs L. Olson.
