Penguin Books, 1948. Paperback. Acceptable. 1948. Penguin Reprint. 256 pages. Green striped paper cover. Text block is fairly crinkled. Pages are heavily tanned with moderate foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper, with a few small nicks along text block edge. Minor dog-eared corners. Cover has moderate shelf-wear to edges and surfaces, with curling to corners. Mild crushing to spine ends, with visible reading creases down spine. Book has a prominent forward lean. Small splits to spine end. Heavily tanned and moderately foxed.
Synopsis
E. W. Hornung (1866-1921) created Raffles the gentleman burglar, hero of The Amateur Cracksman (1899) and Mr. Justice Raffles (1909) and wrote many other adventure stories published in magazines and in book form. He married Arthur Conan Doyle's sister Constance, traveled widely, and played cricket.
