About This Item

London: Hakluyt, 1914. Book. Good. Blue Cloth. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 3 volumes published 1914, 1916, 1920. lxxxviii, 363; xlvii, 521; xlix, 271 pages, all plates and maps present. Also included is an offprint: The Rule of Don Manuel de Amat. Viceroy of Peru by B. Glanvill Corney. (7 pages, from Proceedings of the XVIII international congress of americanists). Some wrormholing in volumes 1 and 2. This is mainly restricted to the gutters of the endpapers with just a few wormholes going a little further, text is not effected, small darkened area bottom of spine of vol. 2. All 3 volumes have dedications by Dr. Corney to James Lyle Young. These dedications are dated the same year as the publication date. The books seem to have been sent to Lyle Young by Corney as soon as they were published. Lyle Young was a Pacific trader who traded mainly in Melanesia and later settled in Papeete. These volumes are very hard to find separately and even harder as a complete set..
