About This Item
Chicago: Heardy Publishing Company [?], 1960. Side-stapled original illustrated wrappers. Shelfwear; staining to covers and transfer from cello tape. Good. 76pp. Perfect-bound, 5.5 x 8" book, with 10 b/w illlustrations. The tale of Grace, the daughter of "The Slasher King" - abused at his hand and that of Hazel, his wife and mistress - an evil stepmother figure with a penchant for dishing out corporal punishment. Grace's enjoyment of leather-whipped pain is only the beginning, as she is initiated into a special Order of Painmasters and Painmistresses and their leather thongs... Yes, "thongs" is the key word here: QUEEN SLASHER is a loose rewrite of Alexander Trocchi's Olympia Press classic tale of sadomsochism, THONGS (1956), making this work a piracy of a rather different sort. We have seen another copy, unpaginated, internally side-stapled with a white cardstock cover printed in red and blue, 96pp., with 15 illustrations, so this may well be a piracy of that, or possibly a Heardy reprint. Text seems to be the same.
