Volume 131, published in July and October 1871, of The Quarterly Review, a literary and political periodical founded in 1809. Containing numerous literature reviews (most notably a facsimile of 'Shakespeare: The First Folio Edition of 1623' and a review of a Lord Byron biography by Von Karl Elze), scientific articles, political articles, and more. Rebound in half calf with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers.The personal copy of Frederick A. Wood of Chew Magna, author of Collections for a Parochial History of Chew Magna (1903), noted by his bookplate to the front pastedown. In half calf with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers. Externally, shelf wear to the boards and rubbing to the joints, spine, and extremities. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, front hinge is lightly strained, remaining binding is firm. A few instances of light spotting to the pages, otherwise they are bright and clean. Good
