Barrie's comedy, beautifully illustrated with colour plates by Hugh Thomson. Barrie's comedy in four acts, adorned with colour frontispiece as well as twenty-one further colour plates by renowned illustrator Hugh Thomson. Collated, complete. This amusing play was written before the publication of 'Peter Pan,' and follows a tale of two sisters who start a school for genteel children during Napoleonic times. The play opened in New York in 1901, running for a modestly successful 64 performances. It then opened in London the year after, and ran for a very successful 459 performances. The play was then revived numerous times until World War II. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Gilt remains bright. Fading to the spine and rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot to the edges, affecting the occasional page. Very Good
