Published by The Medici Society, London, 1969, first edition. Published as a limited edition of 1050 (1000 for sale) of which 850 were quarter leather bound and 150 full leather bound. This is no 157, one of the quarter leather bindings, numbered and signed by the authors son, Francis Russell Flint. Scarlet quarter leather spine with grey cloth boards. Five raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. Gilt image of key to front cover. Teg. Book contained in a navy blue slipcase complete with original silk strip to help extract book from case. The whole preserved within its original cardboard case as delivered when new. Folio, 14.5ins x 10ins, marble endpapers (from a design by WRF), 265pp. Aside from the biographical text (largely written in a reminescent style) the book is superbly illustrated with examples of the authors work from all periods of his career. F in F slipcase.
