About This Item

London: Gollancz. London, Gollancz, 1963. First Thus. Hardback. A very good copy. The first in Gollancz's Imaginative Fiction reissue series. There were nine volumes in total. Some pushing the top of the spine, a little toning and some handling wear. A couple of indentations to the rear. Some leaves indented to lower edge with short tears, top edge with light foxing. A decent copy. [7380, Hyraxia Books]. . Very Good. Hardback. 1st Thus Edition. 1963.

Synopsis

The Purple Cloud is a "last man" novel by the British writer M. P. Shiel. It was published in 1901. H. P. Lovecraft later praised the novel as exemplary weird fiction, "delivered with a skill and artistry falling little short of actual majesty. " Frank Belknap Long deemed it "the most unutterably terrible book ever written".
