About This Item
Patavii [Padua]: Excudebat Josephus Cominus. Very Good+. 1740. Hardcover. 80 pages; Bound in vellum-backed marbled boards with tan leather spine label -- uncut (early 19th century? ) The spine is somewhat darkened, but generally an excellent copy of this scarce little book. An early owner has copied Brunet's complimentary description on a slip of old paper -- "Ce petit volume de 80 pp. Est le plus rare, peut-etre, de ceux qui sont partie de la collection des auteurs latins imprimes par Comino..." [Brunet V: 616]. Also quoted on this same slip, from Hebenstreit p. 223 "Editio ex Cominianis rarissima..." And from Ebert number 22114 "Very few copies printed" According to Brunet, this is a preliminary offprint of material included in the third volume of Comino's edition of Muret's works. A charming small volume, admired and sought by classicists for two centuries. ; Experience the pleasure of reading and appreciating this actual printed item. It has its own physical history that imbues it with a character lacking in ephemeral electronic renderings. .
