Beautifully rebound in half red Moroccan leather over spine and corners, and matching red cloth over boards. Gilt ruled edges to leather, and gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Raised spine bands. Per Zimmer (1926, pp 633-4) "A series of 13 papers describing the ornithology of the Challenger expedition, under the editorship and partial authorship of Sclater and forming part VIII of Vol. II of the Zoology of the expedition under the general editorship of Thomson. All of the papers, with the exception of Appendix I ('A List of Birds' Eggs Obtained during the Challenger Expedition') were published previously in the Proc. Zool. Soc. London, some changes being made in the present reprints. The authorship of each paper and the reference to its place of previous publication are given for each paper, except in the case of Appendix I. The plates are hand-colored and are very fine." Cloth on covers show very slight rubbing and very slight scuffs. Covers are otherwise bright and clean. End leaves are a little darkened along edges. Title page and next couple of leaves with a few small and light smudges. Pages 2 and 3 show light foxing. Plates XXIX and XXX are slightly darkened around edges.
