First edition in book form. Large Paper Impression watermarked Whatman. Two volumes. Folio (14.5"). (ii) lii, 96p;(i, plate list); 97-208, (i, plate list). Illustrated with two vignette engraved titles and 207 engraved plates. Plates not figured in the pagination. In early Riviere bindings of full mottled calf with decorative rolled edges and denteles, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Beautifully rebacked to style, retaining the original red and black spine labels (?). One original wrapper bound in rear of Vol. I. Todd and Bowden. 132Ab. (Todd and Bowden discovered only a few copies of this rare first issue in book form.)
With the red paper bookplate of Sir William Fraser of Ledeclune and Morar [4th] Baronet (1826-1898) whose library was sold by Sotheby's in 1901.
