Boston, MA: Ticknor and Fields. Very Good. 1866. 1st Edition Thus; 1st Printing. Leather_Bound. This is a two volume set in full morocco leather with five raised bands on the spine and stamped decorations to the front and rear boards. The endpapers are marbled and have decorative dentelles. (AEG: All edges Gilt) The books are in Very Good condition and were likely issued without dust jackets. There is noticeable rubbing to the spine ends, corners, foredges and spine joints. The bottom spine ends of both volumes have smallish chips missing, as does the top spine end of volume two. The text pages are clean and bright. "John Greenleaf Whittier (December 17, 1807 – September 7, 1892) was an American Quaker poet and advocate of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Frequently listed as one of the fireside poets, he was influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Whittier is remembered particularly for his anti-slavery writings, as well as his 1866 book Snow-Bound. John Greenleaf Whittier (December 17, 1807 – September 7, 1892) was an American Quaker poet and advocate of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Frequently listed as one of the fireside poets, he was influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns.
