PROPOSED RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE EXERCISE AND MANOEUVRES OF THE LANCE, COMPILED ENTIRELY FROM THE POLISH SYSTEM, INSTITUTED BY MARSHAL PRINCE JOSEPH PONIATOWSKI AND GENERAL COURT CORVIN KRASINSKI AND ADAPTED TO THE FORMATIONS, MOVEMENTS AND EXERCISE OF THE BRITISH CAVALRY. To which is affixed an historical account of the most celebrated banners and orders of chivalry, being emblematic and descriptive of the origin and honor formerly attached to bearing gonfanons, or gonfalons, chivalric banners, and lances. A very good copy in original full red leather binding with extensive gilt decoration to brds and spine, all edges gilt, a beautifully written inscription from the author "To the most noble, The Marquis of Anglesey GCB &c,, &c,, &c from his obliged and grateful Servant, The authory". 19 coper-engraved plates, all present and corrent, the only fault being that this copy is missing the frontispiece of Prince J. Poniatowski. The binding is a little rubbed, contents clean and tight, no foxing just a little offsetting to a few plates. FULL COLLATION Fep, blank, title-page, design illustrative of the work, Palmam qui meruit, ferat (with engraving of a lancer), dedication, preface, contents, directions for placing the plates, dimensions of the lance, explanation of plate 19, 149pp, appendix xxv, rear blank, rep.
