A superb-condition cinema-used Finnish A2 poster for the 1949 film JOHNNY STOOL PIGEON, starring Howard Duff, Shelley Winters and Dan Duryea. The film was first screened in Finnish cinemas in 1950 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx. It is in really excellent shape, Fine condition. There is a fold line near the top - slanted and visible only from the verso but none to the middle. At the top line of the titles in the letter "a" you can see a mounting hole and there is an enclosed tear surrounding the hole but this is almost invisible - I guess the poster was snatched from it's mounting without any ceremony. No further pinholes. At the bottom edge there is a very short tear and a smaller nick. Otherwise no edge wear apart from some minor handling creasing. The paper is extremely thin and has survived the intervening 70+ years fantastically well.… Read More

A remarkable, apparently un-used Finnish A2 cinema-foyer poster for the celebrated Soviet-era, World War 2 movie, Zhivyje i mjortvyje known in English as The Alive and the Dead. Now acknowledged as a masterpiece the film attracted huge audiences on its release. The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in November 1964 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a modern reproduction or reprinting and nor is it Video/DVD-related. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx and was printed by Rotapaino Oy, dated 1964. It is in Very Fine to Mint un-used condition - unfolded, free from pinholes or other signs of use. This is a rare poster in any condition but to find such a perfect example is a minor miracle. The film was released in English as Royal Affairs in Versailles The film was released in Finland in 1955 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a re-issue or a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related The "small" standard vintage Finnish film poster is the most common and collected version and approximates in size to the German or Hungarian A2. Sizes do vary very slightly depending on the printers involved and the era. Finland: KG Divina Film, 1958. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. First Printing. A vintage, original, Finnish cinema poster for the first screening in Finland of the German, Oscar-nominated terror movie, THE DEVIL STRIKES AT NIGHT. The film was first screened in Finland in 1958 with no further theatrical runs. A stunning example of cinema advertising art, this poster is in Fine, vibrant condition, approximate size is 23.5 inches by 15.7 inches, standard Finnish A2 format. SIGNS OF USE: no pinholes to the corners but rather two tape residue marks to the upper margin (picture not affected). Fold-line to middle, a couple of minor scrapes to the upper right corner which has resulted in tiny loss of colour but otherwise in outstanding condition, FINE. Signed in the plate by the prolific film poster artist, Engel. For the best appreciation of condition please study the accompanying photograph which is high resolution.

A very striking and rare Finnish A2 one-sheet, cinema-used poster for the Hungarian war-time movie better recognized by its French title, Quelque Part en Europe. The film was first screened in Finland in 1950 without any further release . This is a particularly rare poster from the Piirtopaino press. It is extremely thin paper stock and has survived remarkably intact. Measures 23.5" x 16.5" It is in VG to Near Fine condition with pinholes to corners. Very small chip to left edge bottom. Some handling creases to edges and bottom right corner but remarkably complete and bright for such a frail object. Super graphics though no artist signature.
