First edition in German, translated by the political economist Adolph Soetbeer [1814-1892]. This edition is more than a translation; it is an elaboration, with contradictions discarded or reconciled. It includes an appendix, an extensive bibliography, and statistical tables.

The Hanseatic League was a German economic community designed to provide structure to merchants and markets across Europe. However, because of his Christian-based writings and Jakob Bohme influence, Werdenhagen became heavily criticized and excluded from the Hamburg Hansa.
