About This Item

London England: Book Club Associates, 1979. Hardback. Slight shelf wear to edges of D/J. The author gives a full analysis of the natural history of the Eruopean otter, including details of territory and behaviour, food and feeding habits. There is a section on communication and detailed accounts of the keeping of otters in captivity and of how to look for them in the wild. Philip Wayre describes vividly the otter's underwater world which he shares when following his otters in wetsuit and aqualung in the rivers of Norfolk and in the sea. Many of the observations are unique - the chapter on breeding, for example, is backed by his personal observations of many litters, born in his Norfolk Wildlife Park at Great Witchingham, nr. Norwich, or at the Otter Trust at Earsham. The book is illustrated with over 60 exceptional photographs, all taken by Philip Wayre and includes unique scenes of life under water and in the breeding holts or dens. 120 pages. 8 line illustrations. 62 monochrome photographs. 6 colour photographs. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.). 1st Book Club Associates. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Hardback.
