About This Item

Swansea: The David Jones Society. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 2002. First Edition. Paperback. No Date, but this copy was one of 2 that came from the Library of the late Arthur Giardelli, the well-known Artist, and the other copy included a small loose leaf biro note from the Author and the note was DATED 14: xi: 2. The note also mentioned the Venice Biennalle of 2003 as being next year. Glossy illustrated card covers on a two-tone fawn/cream base. The spine is a bit creased and there are a couple of light marks on the covers - negligible. The front cover has a small illustration of Jones' watercolour painting of "Garden at Rock", Rock Hall, Northumberland. Internally FINE. No Inscriptions or other marks. 24 b/w and colour plates illustrate David Jones' work throughout this 28 page booklet. Produced with the support of The School of Art & Design, Swansea Institute of Higher Education. This booklet accompanying this exhibition examined the interrelationships of text and image in David Jones's long poem 'The Anathemata: Fragments of an Attempted Writing'. Overall, with a couple of minor faults as noted, this is an Excellent copy. See Images; Square 8vo 8" to 9" tall .
