Birmingham, Alabama: The Classics of Medicine Library, 1978. Beautifully bound in full dark blue top grain cowhide, with 5 raised spine bands. Spine and covers elaborately brass-die stamped with lettering, rules and ornaments in 22-karat gold. Handsome marbled endpapers. All edges gilt (gilt on bottom edge slightly rubbed). Appears unread. Fine condition. A blue silk bookmark is bound in at the head of the spine. Sharp corners. Previous owner's bookplate on endpaper (i.e. Wade F. Exum, MD, Psychiatrist). All other pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked - apparently never read. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. A reprint of the 1892 original. . Special Classics of Medicine edition.
