Hardcover. vg- to vg. 12mo. 183pp. Contemporary green pebbled leather boards, with ruling in black along the edges of the covers, and gilt lettering and raised bands on the spine. All edges gilt and marbled endpapers. The book is an eleventh edition of Tennyson's "serio-comic blank verse narrative poem". "The poem tells the story of an heroic princess who forswears the world of men and founds a women's university where men are forbidden to enter." Binding with rubbing to the head, tail and hinges of the spine and some corners. Sunning to spine and edges of covers. Interior with some minor water staining and smudges to the endpapers and title page, with some additional sporadically throughout. Book block tight. Front free endpapers with the sticker of previous owner (the wife of British architect George Coles). Binding in overall very good-, interior in very good condition overall.
