About This Item
1882 1st/1st Mark Twain The Prince and the Pauper Illustrated Literature RARE
"When I am king they shall not have bread and shelter only, but also teachings out of books, for a full belly is little worth where the mind is starved." ― Mark Twain, The Prince and the Pauper
A rare first American edition of Mark Twain's popular novel "The Prince and the Pauper". This humorous work follows the adventures of Tom Canty, a ragged street dweller who looks remarkably similar to Edward VI, son of King Henry VIII.
