Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - 1833

London : Richard Bentley, 1833 A very good copy of the 1st edition of the Richard Bentley single volume Pride and Prejudice. With frontispiece, vignette title and letterpress title. Lacking the Standard Novels title. In contemporary half leather armorial binding with the arms of Fulwar Craven of Brockhampton Park to the base of the spine, and his bookplate to the front endpaper. The binding has been rebacked preserving the original spine, which has gilt ruled compartments with a blind stamped design. A new title label has been added. The marbled boards are scuffed, particularly the rear board. New endpapers have been added, with the armorial bookplate retained. The contents have been restitched and are sound and tight. There is a small professional paper repair to the top margin of p1. A new tissue guard has been added at the frontispiece. Contents in very good clean condition with the very occasional small spot.
