Brock, Charles E. xxx, 352, 4 (ads.) pp. 1899 reprint of the 1895 'first printed in 'Macmillan's Illustrated Standard Novels'. A very good copy bound in original publisher's burgundy cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board with blind stamped intricate foliage pattern to the boards to include the 'M' for Macmillan. No inscriptions. Illustrated by Charles E. Brock with line drawings. Some spotting and toning to the endpapers. Scattered mostly light spotting to the margins of some pages with a more notable circular soil mark (at its largest around 1cm x 0.6cm) affecting the extreme outer margin of around 15 pages, though only a few more notably. All four board corners a little bumped or turned in. Some fading and toning to the cloth spine. Some rubbing to the head and tail of the spine with two or three nicks to the cloth - tail of spine. Leading and lower edges rough cut. A slight split to the rear inner hinge around 8cm in length. Over all a very good, essentially clean, tight copy.
