Carlo Pellegrini was a 17th-century Catholic bishop known for his service to the Diocese of Avellino and Frigento. While there, Pellegrini wrote a number of works on canon and civil law including his magnum opus 'Praxis Vicariorum'. In this work, Pellegrini discusses the vicars of the Church, notable civil and criminal court cases, as well as his observations of Naples, Italy. It also includes notes on the Inquisition, public denunciation of the Church, and even instances of torture!
