Fully illustrated with 50 full page, and 135 smaller engravings by Edmund H. New. Fine bright copy in a beautiful binding of half dark green morocco. Spine with five raised bands, compartments with double gilt ruled borders. Two sections lettered in gilt and the others decorated with gilt design of a bird on a branch. Marbled paper on boards. A lovely copy.

Aberdeen: Geo Clark and Son, 1845 An extremely scarce original copy of Edmondston's Shetland flora. Thomas Edmonston produced his first list of Shetland plants when he was 11 years old and had the good fortune to be able to discuss and share it with Joseph Hooker. He expanded the list and produced this work when he was 20 years old. It was and has remained an important work on Shetland's flora. It is in the original blind stamped decorative cloth binding with gilt titles to the front board. The binding is in very good condition. The original yellow endpapers are present and a previous owner has glued the top flap of an envelope to the fpd with their ink notes of plants and a reference to Tingwall manse. There is also a small ink '35' to the top corner of the fep. Contents: title, dedication, preface, introduction pp xxvii; arrangement of Shetland plants 1-67 with errata slip. Contents clean with extensive scholarly annotation - such as references to locations and Icelandic flora.

viii + 482 pp. + 12 gravures h.t. 23,5x15,5 cm. Furne et Ce, Éditeurs, Paris, 1860. --- Half-leather. Gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Some wear on hinges, edges and corners of the covers. Marbled endpapers. Tight binding. Foxing only on pages with engravings - engravings not affected. All other pages are clean.

London: Henry Herringman, 1663. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Much toning and occasional marking, but in general good internal order throughout. Heavier wear to title page, especially edges, with some ink marking here and verso. Second edition with extensive large type dedication and lengthy preface. Full leather boards and remnant of spine all detached, thus a candidate for sympathetic rebinding. 16mo. 254pp

England: At the Clarendon Press / Oxford University Press, 1932 IN GOOD CONDITION. AUTHOR'S SIGNED LETTER, on Oxford University Press stationary, addressed to Mr. Kent, tipped-in. Along with an article on the author, laid-in. Bound in original paper wraps, stitched binding is tight. Front cover detached, in a protective mylar sleeve.

New York: John Wiley and Son, 1868 IN GOOD CONDITION. xiii [1] 164pp, bound in original blind stamped, brown cloth, with gilt on spine still bright. Includes engraved text illustrations throughout. Covers show worn corners, loss to upper/lower edges of backstrip, few backstrip chips with paper label on spine from private owner, front gutter starting, ownership on ffp.. BINDING TIGHT.

Lacks leather spine label, back cover has seen water damage - with lower corner absent and marbled paper absent, with damp marks extending into some of the back pages. Savannah Georgia: Morning News Print, 1901. First Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good+/None Issued. VG+/1st ed. Jonathan Bryan was born in 1708 in Prince William's parish (Beaufort South Carolina). He was the youngest child of Joseph Bryan, owner of the plantation known as Providence. This is a record of his life in Georgia, starting with the founding of Savannah with Oglethrope, through to his death at age 80, having lived in Georgia for 50 years. Jonathan Bryan was an important civic and political figure in the Georgia and South Carolina colonies, owned a great deal of property in both and owned Brampton Plantation. Book condition is Very Good+; hand sewn binding is firm; there is no foxing, soiling or markings in book. 97pp. First Edition. Brown cloth covered boards have some rubbing to corners, and to the head and tail of spine. Some small spots on back panel. Gilt letter title is bright on front cover. A well preserved copy.
