Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Comprises the substance of eight sermons, preached at the Chapel at Highgate in Middlesex, to which are annexed prayers and devotions suitable to those subjects. Handsome rebound in 12mo format, full calf leather over boards, five raised bands to spine, a bit mottled at spine bottom. Clean, unmarked interior, new endpapers. Half-title starting to work loose at upper third, worming to bottom tip, starting at first signature, dissipating to a single hole which ends at final page, unobtrusive beyond affecting "B" at signature B1 bottom, thence single hole to end. Toning to interior edges of endpapers, else clean and mildly toned. Edward Yardley (1698-1769) was not a Welshman but contributed to Welsh history and genealogy. He was born in London, 28 March 1698, son of Robert and Elizabeth Yardley, educated at Merchant Taylors School and S. John's College, Cambridge, earning a B.A., M.A. and B.D. and then serving as Deacon and Priest and Preacher then eventually Archdeacon at Cardigan when this was published (Dictionary of Welsh Biography). [xii], 13-142 pp. plus 2 pp. of a publisher ad.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
