Bust portrait of theologian Lucas Trelcatius (1573-1607), turned towards the right, looking at the observer. In oval frame, lettered at the top: ""LILIUM INTER SPINAS"", within further rectangular frames. Inscribed under the portrait: ""LUCAS TRELCATIUS PATER, S.S.Theologiae Professor."" With address of van der AA: ""Lugd. Bat. ex Officina Petri Vander Aa."" Included in Van der Aa's ""Fundatoris, Curatorum et Professorum celeberrimorum aliorumque illustrium virorum..."" published in Leiden between 1715 and 1716. "". Engraving with some etching on paper from three plates; trimmed to plate edge, total: 349 x 253 mm: mounted on a larger sheet; despite some light brown stains in very good condition. Scribblings in pen and black ink, namely dates. Van Someren 147.
