About This Item
Austin: The Pemberton Press, 1965. Hardcover. Small 4to. Brown cloth with gilt lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xiii, 164pp. Illustrations, decorative endpapers. Fine/very good. Jacket faintly spine-sunned; rubber-stamped ownership signature on front pastedown, which adds a Frederic Remington style "My Book," and same owner's cowboy-theme bookplate on half-title page. Superb first edition of this biography of the legendary Texas folklorist and writer (1888-1964). Just for fun this book is accompanied by a second printing of Lon Tinkle's "An American Original: The Life of J. Frank Dobie" (Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1978), sans dust jacket else near fine.
