During the middle of the 6th C a literate Quiche Indian transcribed his folk legends into Latin script in his own language. Late in the 17th C Father Francisco Ximenez, a parish priest copied and translated the now lost manuscript. This is English translation from Spanish version o--its account of their cosmogony, mythology, traditions and history are intensely interesting. 267 pp.
